The residential development at Birsstrasse 168–178 was built in 1953 and comprises six adjoining apartment buildings. In collaboration with Vischer Architekten AG, we carried out the renovation project for Basel Leben AG. The kitchens, bathrooms and entrance areas in all 48 apartments were renovated. In addition, the existing building services and drainage systems were upgraded to meet current standards. Common areas and the surfaces in the stairwells were also refurbished. To enhance the attractiveness of the apartments, the existing balconies facing both the courtyard and the street were enlarged.
