Energy efficiency and sustainability are integral to the concept of these owner-occupied apartments. One example is the use of waste heat: the buildings are connected to the district heating network of the Zürcher Oberland waste-to-energy plant. Combined with controlled residential ventilation and excellent insulation, this enables the development to meet the Minergie-ECO standard. Located in the centre of Hinwil, the residential development comprises a total of eleven apartment buildings, each with three or four storeys. The architecture plays with clean forms and spaces, while the varied orientation of the buildings allows indoor and outdoor areas to flow seamlessly into one another, giving the development a distinctive and vibrant character. W. Schmid AG’s careful implementation of the plans ensures that this attractive living space also remains affordable.
